FEAR.CBS 09/09/04 8:28 AM-DLR 1:21 Do not be afraid. This is Dave Ross on the CBS Radio Network. According to a new poll by the Associated Press, close to 40% of Americans today are fearful of becoming victims of terrorism. That's fairly significant - it's about the same percentage as worry about being burglarized or losing their jobs. The poll also found those who were worried about another attack were more likely to support the President, while those who were LESS worried were inclined to support John Kerry. We don't know why some people tend to be more worried or less worried, or why that drives them to support one candidate or the other. But what I can't figure out is why anyone is worried at all. Certainly no one should be MORE worried about a terrorist attack than they were three years ago. Because that flies in the face of everything we've told has been accomplished in the last 18 months. I mean - the whole point of attacking Iraq was to get rid of the number one threat to America, and we've done that. All I can think is that because of all the noise of the campaign the message hasn't gotten through. So let me spell it out. Saddam is OUT OF POWER. This man who threatened us with "weapons of mass destruction program activities" is in a jail. Awaiting trial. He's not coming back. There are no more weapons of mass destruction program activities going on! So, it's all under control! There's only one possible way that you could actually be AS worried about terrorism as you were on September 11th, and that would be if we hadn't won the war in Iraq. And we we won! So relax. Now this. ~C:\works\files\FEAR.CBS
